With the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z, and Bill Clinton who have turned themselves into vegans, going vegan could be a heavy challenge for a lot of people who are used to eating meats. However, being a vegan shouldn’t be too hard if you know your main “why”. Here, in this article, I have compiled five important questions that you should ask yourself before you decide into committing yourself to become a vegan:

1. What is my main motivation to become a vegan?

Let’s face it, there are lots of people out there who are endorsing veganism. With their bright-looking skin and skinny body, If you are considering yourself into becoming a vegan just so that you look cool, then you are not going to last long. Being a vegan requires full commitment and might be difficult for a lot of people. If you want to be a vegan, be prepared to give up that favorite tenderloin steak that you eat once a week, or that delicious crispy fried chicken that you eat as your guilty pleasure. Knowing your main motivation is key to your success in becoming a full-time vegan.

 2. Am I ready to be bombarded with questions from my friends and families?

Yes, they will be confused looking at your new habit. If you come from a family and friends who are meat eaters, then be prepared to be peppered with lots of questions. The best way to handle this situation is by telling them that you are turning into a vegan for your own personal reasons and tell them to understand your decision.

3. Why do I want to be a vegan?

There are lots of reasons to be a vegan. Some people choose to be a vegan because they care about the environment, whereas some choose to be a vegan because they want to give up eating meats. Whatever the reason is, you have to make sure that your drive to become a vegan is strong enough, that regardless of the challenge, you will always be a vegan.

4. What will I gain from becoming a vegan?

Sometimes, it helps to know the benefits of becoming a vegan. Other than preserving animals and being healthier, there are a lot more potential gains from becoming a vegan, such as being happier, having a more glowing skin, and many more. Remembering these benefits could help you significantly later on as you are adjusting yourself to become a vegan.

5. Finally, am I ready to become a vegan?

Last but not least, after answering the four questions above, you can probably tell your readiness to become a vegan. Being a vegan is n’t easy, and you should start slowly and quietly. The beginning is always the hardest, and you don’t have to do it all at once. Start practicing by being a part-time vegan first for several days out of the seven, then increase the number of days as time goes by. This way, your body will adjust and adapt periodically, and thus improving your odds of becoming a vegan drastically.
